OpenSourceParking.com is a domain parking service that helps Free Software and Open Source. Domain parking provides a place-holder web page for an undeveloped domain name. Now you can do some good with those undeveloped domains!
Parked sites carry public-service ads for Open Source software, and commercial ads to generate revenue. Funds in excess of costs are being used to help create an effective PAC (political action committee) for Open Source / Free Software. Because it will be supporting a PAC, this project is not eligible for IRS 501(c)3 non-profit status.
This project is being operated by Bruce Perens, a well-known Open Source evangelist.
Presently the parked sites advertise Firefox, OpenOffice, and OpenSourceParking itself, and presents a domain landing page from domainsponsor.com in a frame. We may choose another firm from domainsponsor.com, so far we've not had any luck in getting Google interested.How to Park Your Domain
- Domain owners: set your domain servers to ns1.opensourceparking.com and ns2.opensourceparking.com
- Domain owners: set your parking domain servers to ns1.opensourceparking.com and ns2.opensourceparking.com
- DNS operators: set your undeveloped domain names to be a CNAME of opensourceparking.com
